How to choose proper fiberglass tissue adhesive?
Each type of finishing materials requires a specially designed adhesive to provide durable and reliable result. Lux adhesive produced by our company boasts the following properties:
- The adhesive is polymer-based, and this allows it to carry a significant extra load (including due to humidity), which is created by the putty applied to the fiberglass surface tissue mat after pasting.
- The base of the adhesive – polymer – makes up at least 15%, because durability of the adhesive directly depends on it, as well as moisture resistance.
- High adhesion: although fiberglass surface tissue mat has a light weight, the adhesive should be designed to carry a significant load, because this type of coating suggests subsequent puttying and painting, and this means an extra load.
- An improved formulation that provides some “safe load factor” – you will need it if not all the conditions recommended in the instructions are met when preparing surfaces.

How to apply fiberglass tissue adhesive?
Brief instructions:
- Surface preparation: at the first stage, remove dust and all dirt, and apply primary layer of putty to level out the walls.
- Priming: to do this, you will need to prepare a solution consisting of water and Lux adhesive (2:1 ratio).
- Pasting: before pasting fiberglass tissue strip, take a handy tool (it is commonly a roller or a broad brush) and apply a dense even layer of adhesive on the surface, not on the finishing material. Next, put the fiberglass tissue mats edge-to-edge. Use a spatula to level them out, if needed.
- Applying second layer of a primer: as before pasting, prepare a water-diluted adhesive and apply it to the fiberglass tissue mat.
It will take 24 hours to dry up. As soon as it is dry, you may apply a final layer of putty, smooth it out and re-prime the surface. You may proceed with further decoration, such as painting fiberglass tissue mat, only provided the primer is completely dried up.
Conditions to be met before applying fiberglass adhesive
If you want your adhesive to retain its properties and provide the expected result, certain conditions must be observed during its application:
- adhere to the temperature requirements – carefully read the information indicated on the label;
- do not dilute the adhesive with water in arbitrary proportions – if you have any questions regarding the matter, please ask them to our managers in advance before the adhesive’s application;
- apply high-quality putty on the fiberglass tissue mat, as its cheap analogues contain the amount of sand that is higher than required, which doubles the load on the adhesive;
- mind that you should always wait until the adhesive and surfaces are completely dry (this may take days), only then you may start puttying and painting the surface.
